An English Course That Stopped Paying for Every Student

A course provider dependent on ads became discoverable organically, including through AI assistants.

Problem, solution, result

Problem
Every new student came from paid acquisition. Nothing ranked organically, so the moment the ad budget stopped, enquiries stopped with it.
Solution
A landing page rebuilt around what prospective students actually search for, with the structure and markup that search engines and AI assistants need to quote a source confidently.
Result
The course is now found without paid traffic, including by people asking AI assistants for recommendations, and the cost of acquiring a lead fell.

Why paid-only acquisition is a trap

It works, which is the problem. Enquiries arrive, the numbers look acceptable, and there is never an obvious month to start the slow work of ranking. Then costs rise, a competitor bids harder, and there is no second channel to fall back on.

What we changed

  • Wrote the page around the phrases prospective students type, not the phrases the industry uses about itself
  • Gave the page one job — explain this course and let someone enrol — instead of covering everything the school offers
  • Added the structure that lets a search engine or an assistant understand what is being offered, to whom, at what level
  • Made it fast, because a page that loads slowly on a mid-range phone will not hold the visitor long enough to convert

What we would do differently

We would set up measurement before launch rather than reading it afterwards. The improvement is real, but attributing it precisely between the rebuild and other changes happening at the same time is harder than it needed to be.

The pattern here is described in general on the education industry page.

Solutions

  • Student Enrolment System

Let a student enrol and pay in one sitting, instead of losing them somewhere in the follow-up.

  • Digital Transformation

For businesses whose systems worked at half this size and are now the thing slowing them down.

Services

  • Web Development

Websites and web apps built to be used daily, not admired once.
